Bio:From Ballinamore in county Leitrim, comes from a big sporting family. His Father Pádraig was president of Athletics Ireland (formerly BLE) from 1991-1994, mother Patricia was international athlete, winning national titles from 800m up to half-marathon, and representing Ireland in World Cross Country, Europa Cup and World Half-Marathon Championships. His uncle Mickey Quinn was Leitrim’s first football All-Star in 1990. Graduated from University of Limerick in 2005, where he studied Public Administration, and still based in Limerick.


Career Highlights include:

7th in 10km walk in IAAF World Youth Championships in 1999

23rd in 10km walk in IAAF World Junior Championships in 2000

9th in 10km walk in European Junior Championships in 2001

13th in 20km walk in World University Games in 2003

Won 20km walk EAA GP Permit Meeting in Podebrady, Czech Rep in 2006

Won 50km walk in EAA GP permit in Dudince, Slovakia in 2007, setting and Irish senior record and Olympic ‘A’ Standard. 

Ranked 19th in World Rankings over 50km in 2007.

Currently coached by top Italian coach Sandro Damilano.
