Life on the Circuit

Q Do you have an agent, if so what does he do?

My agent was Andy Norman but he passed away earlier this year.

Q How do plan your race schedule? Does it depend on money? Agent, coach?

Im Self funded so money is not the problem.Last year i ran 12 400s and loved every bit of it. I m hoping this year that i dont have to race as much . I think i had to learn how to run the 400 again and it took until about the 8th one to start really running.

Coach obvoulsly has main control, if he doesnt think im ready to race then i'm not going too.

Q How long would you be on the road for?

Longest was 3 weeks but most of the time its a short hop over and back 3 days possiblely 4

Q Do you have access to physio when travelling?

Depends if its an Irish team trip then yes but most of the time i don't

Q Do meet organisers look after you?

Yes there are some great organisers around the EAP circuit accommodation and transport taken care off no problem.

Q What’s the worst & best accommodation you have stayed in?

Best has to be Geneva. I don't want to say it was the worst, all I look for is a clean bed and a shower but we traveled to Poland for a meet and it was not up to par at all.

Q Do you room with other athletes? Anyone famous?

Yes most of the time the Irish Lads. Few times, foreigners, had a great 1hr conversation with an Italian hammer thrower one night, he didn't have a word of  English and i couldn't speak Italian . Very funny

Q Do you travel with your teammates?

Can do but travel alone a bit, meet some over there it really doesn't bother me I'm going to race.

Q How do you cope with the different foods in the countries you travel through?

Stick to the basics and always bring some of the essentials with you. Nuts, oat meal, you can never be caught out.  Failing to prepare is preparing to fail !
