Bio: During his rugby playing career, Barry won six Irish schoolboy caps and won two caps for Ireland A in the 1996/97 season.

Barry, born in Limerick, pursued his interest in decathlon by taking up a sports scholarship at the Penn State University in America. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and business and a bronze medal at the European junior championships. His interests in sport and also sports injuries led him on to obtain an honours degree in physiotherapy from the University of Birmingham in 1994.


He set a pb of 7775 pts in the decathlon in 1992 and went on to compete in the world athletic championships in the decathlon in 1993.


In recent years,he has worked at several teaching hospitals in London, including the Chelsea and Westminster and St Thomas’. In 2000 he obtained a Masters degree in spinal manipulation and rehabilitation from the University College London. He also qualified for the Manipulative Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in that year.

Bio: Sharon Foley  is an Irish former athlete from Lifford, County Donegal from 1989 to 2003. Competing for Lifford A.C., she specialised in the High Jump and was outdoor national champion in 1989, 1990, 1993 and 1995. She was also indoor champion in 1990, 1993; 1996-8 and 2003. She is now retired and married to Martin Gallen, with one child. She holds the Women's Senior Irish National Record for the Heptathlon with 5394 points, achieved in Hemel, Hempstead on 23rd and 24th August 1997. Foley was national Pentathlon champion from 1993-1995
