How do you deal with injuries? You just have to deal with it mentally, everyone gets injured, you just need to be clever and be smart when you do have a slight injury Do you have any recurring injuries? Intense physio and patience What recovery methods do you use on a daily basics? Soft tissue massage, stretching to maintain range, rehab exercise circuit to strengthen my left leg. Nutrition How important is nutrition to you? Very important, especially when recovering. Eating the right amount of food to heal is a must so I can get back as soon as possible. Also when competing my event requires you to be as light as possible yet maintain speed and strength. The lighter I am the higher I’ll jump. What type of foods do you eat, on a typical day? High protein diet with limited carbohydrate intake, cereal in the morning, pasta and salad for lunch and meat and vegetables for dinner. Supplements, your top 3 and why? I take creatine, protein and glutamine. The creatine and protein are great for the strength training phases in the winter and the glutamine helps boost my immune system. It’s important to remember that taking supplements isn’t enough; you still need to train hard! |
